July 15, 1985 was the date the Articles of Incorporation were filed to establish Mallard Point.

Mallard Point encompasses a total of 1400 acres, 475 of which are currently developed. The main lake at Mallard Point is approximatley 100 acres in size, while Drake Lake and Widgeon Lake are approximately 14 acres each. All lakes are man-made. The dam stretches over 1000 ft., impounds over a half billion gallons of water, and is entirely an earthen dam.

The main lake is 42 feet deep at it's deepest point, with an average depth of 20 feet. Consisting of over 6 miles of shoreline, this and the other lakes of Mallard Point are restricted to the sole use and enjoyment of its residents and property owners. All three lakes are stocked and balanced by marine biologists.

Mallard Point is the largest neighborhood in Scott County by population, number of homes (approx. 380 as of March 2008), and square miles covered.
